What File Types Does Microsoft Accept?
Acceptance differs between ad placements. Check the Ad Formats section to know what file types are acceptable within a given ad placement. Your Microsoft Sales Representative can also ensure that you have the information necessary for your particular ad placement selection.
- Java—Microsoft does not support JAVA (not to be confused with JavaScript), due to security issues, in addition to performance issues and initial load times.
- Ad code that contains ILAYER, LAYER, or NOLAYER tags is not accepted by Microsoft due to cross-browser compatibility and stability issues.
- Mail-to fields are not accepted by Microsoft as we cannot ensure the user will have a consistently good experience using ads with this functionality (the user may not have e-mail, their e-mail may not be configured to accept this functionality, etc.).
