Tips and Tricks: Bulk Editing Negative Keywords

Bulk editing files in Microsoft Office Excel is a quick and easy alternative to updating keywords through the Microsoft Advertising adCenter UI. With the time you save with this handy trick, you can spend more time analyzing Microsoft Advertising adCenter reports and coming up with new strategies to maximize your daily or monthly adCenter budget.

To bulk edit negative keywords at the campaign level:
  1. Sign in to Microsoft Advertising adCenter.
  2. Click the Campaigns tab.
  3. Select the check boxes next to those campaigns you wish to edit.
  4. From the More drop-down, click Bulk edit
Note: If you do not select any campaign check boxes, Microsoft Advertising adCenter will assume that you want to apply the changes to all your campaigns.
  5. In the Edit settings for multiple campaigns section, confirm that Negative keywords is selected in the Campaign setting drop-down list.
  6. Enter all the negative keywords that you want to include. Separate them with commas, and then click Apply.

Negative keywords that are specified at the ad group level will override the default values that are designated at the campaign level. If you already have negative keywords at the ad group level and want to add more negative keywords at the campaign level, those negative keywords at the ad group level will not be replaced by the campaign-level negative keywords. However, those ad groups that do not have any negative keywords associated with them will have the campaign-level negative keywords associated with them.
