We recognize that invalid clicks (Clicks that adCenter has identified as having characteristics typical of user error, robotic activity, or fraudulent activity, or as exhibiting patterns of unusual activity.) can be a serious issue for pay-per-click advertisers. As a result, adCenter categorizes clicks as standard-quality clicks (Billable clicks.) and low-quality clicks (Nonbillable clicks, including invalid clicks, that adCenter has identified as having characteristics of low or unclear commercial intent, or that adCenter has filtered out for other reasons.) . Low-quality clicks include invalid clicks as well as other clicks that you are not billed for.
To help identify invalid clicks, adCenter uses tools that are designed to:
Analyze search patterns to improve the identification of invalid clicks.
Recognize different types of click activity and help distinguish among malicious, accidental, and valid clicks.
Use campaign performance data to assist in identifying invalid click activity.
adCenter continues to improve and extend methods of identifying invalid clicks.
To learn how many clicks adCenter has identified as low quality, you can add low-quality click values to your Account performance and Campaign performance reports. For more information, see About report attributes and performance statistics. If adCenter bills you for any clicks that are later determined to be invalid, your bill will be adjusted accordingly; however, the clicks will remain in your reports as standard-quality clicks.
If you believe you have been charged for invalid clicks or are concerned about suspicious click activity, please contact Support.
Identifying invalid clicks is only one way adCenter tries to ensure you are getting the highest level of performance for your budget. For more information on other types of clicks you are not billed for, please take a look at Do you get billed for all clicks?.
