Microsoft is pleased to announce that its MSNBC.com site has launched a bold new look and exciting features to wow the broad audience for major news events of 2008, such as the presidential election and the summer Olympics in Beijing. The new look is designed to help advertisers connect with MSNBC.com users more effectively than ever.
New features of MSNBC.com include a new top stories section on the home page that changes with the pace of the news, so there’s always an interesting story, photo or video to see. Tabbed view lets the audience choose stories by content type—video, photo, etc. A wider layout improves content discoverability, and the center alignment makes for easier reading.
The new video player enables the audience to experience the stories they want to see whenever they want to see them: Nightly News in the morning, The Today Show tonight, or Meet the Press on Tuesday. Users can browse and create a video playlist.
The site’s audience of over 30 million includes sought-after “affluentials”:
• Average household income of $85,000
• 84 percent own their residence
• 25 percent more likely to be a business decision maker
• 38 percent more likely to provide advice on web sites and web services1
Advertisers can now get their message across to these affluent and influential consumers with contextual targeting ad opportunities that include topics such as business, entertainment, health, sports, and many others. Roadblocks, slider ads, section fronts with peel back ad let advertisers grab users’ attention so they can interact with the brand. To maximize the new video player, :15 or :30 pre-roll ads provide an uncluttered experience and combine with 300x250 interactive ad units for maximum engagement.
