Creating Content Ads in Microsoft adCenter

Advertising Success in Three Easy Steps

It’s easy to start advertising on our popular network of web sites. Just follow these three steps:

3 Easy Steps to Advertising Success
  1. Click Create campaign.
  2. Name your campaign and your ad group and then click Advanced options.
  3. Click the Content network check box.

Know Your Ad Campaign Options
Microsoft adCenter content ads offer the same targeting options as Bing, allowing you to choose the same targeting options as your search campaign.

By default, adCenter automatically selects both the search and content networks. If you wish to create ads specifically for the content network, simply deselect search. If you do keep the automatic selection of both networks, it will combine the conversion results.
  • Create content-only campaigns that mirror search’s structure. Use this option to track content conversions separately.
  • Create content-only campaigns just for top-performing campaigns. This middle-ground approach involves identifying your top-performing campaigns and mirroring them only to maximize impact while reducing the number of updates.
  • Create a new campaign with only top performing keywords that will be used in the articles. Utilize negative keywords to help further qualify traffic.

Guidance for Running a Successful Campaign
By sticking to a few guidelines, you can create highly effective contextual ads. These tips also help you measure ROI and maximize your online search advertising budget.
  • Use high-volume terms and all converting terms. Generate impressions by using high-volume terms. Contextual advertising matches keywords with topics of articles.
  • Customize your ad copy for contextual advertising. Use competitive differentiation and be as persuasive as possible.
  • Consider using content-specific tracking URLs. Separate content URLs from search URLs to enable tracking of results for each area of advertising.
  • Create custom reports. Measure the success of your ad groups on a consistent basis.
