How Conversion Tracking Works

Conversion tracking works at the campaign level. The same tracking code applies to all campaigns within an account. When you turn on conversion tracking, adCenter tracks all ads and ad groups within all campaigns for the account. If you decide to use conversion tracking, you'll place a small code snippet within the HTML body tags of a conversion page on your web site.

When a customer clicks your ad on the Bing results page and navigates to your landing page, a cookie, is placed on the customer's computer and records that click. The cookie remains for seven days and records any additional times that a customer clicks your ad. If the customer then completes a transaction within the seven-day period—by making a purchase, for example—adCenter retrieves the stored information from the cookie and records the conversion.

Hourly conversions are conversions that are completed less than one hour after a customer clicks an ad. The hourly data shows you which keywords and ads drive the fastest conversions, so you can fine-tune your campaign.
