The Expanding HTML Banner is an MSN Rich Media Solution that expands the 468X60 banner into an HTML form as the user mouses over the banner.
Benefits
Flexibility: choose whichever fields you'd like to include in your creative.
Data collection: learn more about users and attract them to your site.
Marketing with MSN Rich Media gives you brand association with award-winning sites and services, as well as incredible reach to the millions of users who visit MSN every day.
The End-User Experience
A user mouses over any part of the graphic and the form content expands below the original graphic above the Web page content. The graphic's default expansion is of the same width as the originally served graphic. (468 pixels wide)
When the user's mouse is within the expanded creative space, the expanded space remains on the page. When the user mouses outside of the expanded creative space, the expanded ad disappears and gives the appearance of retracting the expanded ad.
The user fills out appropriate fields and submits form to advertiser.
A default image (gif or jpeg) will be shown to a user who does not have IE 5.0 browser version or higher.
Data Logged by MSN
The MSN advertising system logs the following data and uses those data to create reports:
Impressions -- number of impressions for the ad as a whole.
User click-through -- one click-through event for the entire ad.

Additional Spec Information
When designing the expanding text banner, the top 468x60 pixels of the graphic must look like a standard banner. A call to action is recommended within this top part of the graphic to direct the user to "mouse over" the ad and expand it.
The bottom 468x500 portion is the form extension of the ad. The form can have any links or fields that the advertiser wants to include, as long as the ad adheres to size and weight requirements. Drop-down boxes are not supported for this product.
Note that the client is required to set up a URL which captures the data entered into the form elements. Also, when the submit button is pressed (or whichever event that sends the data takes place) the user must be directed to a page indicating that the user information has been processed. Microsoft Advertising does not provide the service of gathering the information entered into the creative and providing the client with a report.
