 Barack Obama’s inauguration as 44th president of the United States will mark a milestone in the country’s history; the months leading up to his November US presidential election victory have already marked a milestone in the engagement of young Americans with politics, thanks to Xbox LIVE.
A groundbreaking partnership between Xbox LIVE and Rock the Vote centred on a unique poll of the Xbox LIVE community, which generated over 100,000 votes. The poll focused media attention on the engaged nature of the gaming community and helped to drive voter registration amongst young Americans, with over 80,000 new registration forms and a million pieces of election-specific content downloaded through Xbox LIVE. The Xbox LIVE poll was one of the largest in the country and correctly predicted Barack Obama’s 53 per cent share of the popular vote.
