At the age of five years Volker started his career as an art director while drawing with the first Magic Marker/Pen under the drawing table in his father’s design studio. By 15 he was earning his pocket money by drawing dummy text lines – 10 cents each – for his father.
After completing an apprenticeship as a sculptor, he stepped into the family tradition and applied to be a trainee at an advertising agency.
He spent the first years of his career working in an above-the-line agency, but when computing became part of everyday life he moved to Grey Direct in relationship marketing. It was love at first sight.
In the 90s when the advertising discovered the Internet, Volker was right at the cutting edge. He quickly developed an all-round talent for multi-channel communication.
After spending half a decade at the Grey Group, Volker ventured into the freelance world. Alongside his agency work for clients like Next M.E.C.H and Wundermann, Volker began developing his passion for design and a found an outlet for this through the work he did for his own clients from the music & lifestyle industries. He also published his first graphic design book: Logorö which is listed on Amazon as “the coolest art collection ever”.
After 6 years freelancing, Volker was ready for a new challenge and started to work for Proximity in Hamburg. From 2006 he has led two teams of 12 creatives, supervising various projects in relationship, online and mobile marketing for clients like Mercedes-Benz, Panasonic, Shell and Deutsche Telekom.
