Lunch at New York's Union League Club today honored Microsoft along with three other major corporations for our continued drive towards programs that raise awareness for key social issues or provide creative solutions to unique socio-economic challenges. Our own Yusuf Mehdi accepted the award on behalf of Microsoft after a brief introduction by CBS News' "Today" co-host Natalie Morales. Before he spoke Natalie mentioned several Microsoft sponsored programs including Unlimited Potential and our partnership with the Girls & Boys Clubs of America. She summed up our efforts quite nicely saying, "they're doing a heck of a lot of good." Through Microsoft sponsored programs we've supported over 15,000 libraries worldwide by donating software. During our current economic downturn we've renewed our efforts through the Elevate America program which provides vouchers to help workers to learn a new skill through technology training. The three other corporations also recognized were Sears, GE, and Johnson & Johnson.
