Today Microsoft Advertising is making available new SDKs for Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone.

We discovered a critical bug with the Windows Phone 8.0 Silverlight and Windows Phone 8.1 XAML ad SDKs we released on 4/2 that will result in some ads not reacting correctly to the user touch.  To correct this bug we strongly recommend that you update your app with the appropriate SDK from the table below.

Also, as part of this announcement, we are making available:

  • NEW - Windows Phone 8.1 Silverlight SDK.
  • NEW – Please note that today we are announcing the RTM version of the Windows Phone 8.1 XAML SDK.
  • UPDATE – an updated version of the Windows 8.1 ad SDK.  This is not a critical update to the SDK released at Build but we ask that you use this version for your Windows 8.1 apps going forward.

We apologize for any inconvenience; for Windows Phone this is a critical fix to implement to enhance monetization and the user experience in your app.

How to determine which version of the ad SDK you are using

Before your update your ad SDK, we recommend that you check your SDK version number to see if there really is a need to update your app.

1. Within Visual Studio, go to the “Tools” menu and select “Extensions and Updates”

2. Click on the ad SDK you are interested in knowing more about

3. Check to make sure that you have the most up to date version number (see yellow highlight below)
