Microsoft's Video Filmstrip is a winner at IAB Annual Meeting
For the third year in a row, I am honored to share that a Microsoft Advertising submission has won in the Rising Stars competition at the IAB Annual Leadership Meeting. This year it was our ‘Video Filmstrip’ that took home the honors. It will now become an IAB-endorsed standard video ad unit (joining its PC and Mobile counterparts).
Here’s a video of how the ‘Video Filmstrip’ works:
The IAB Digital Video Filmstrip has five elegant sliding panels that make it a rich canvas for beautiful and scalable storytelling. We believe it has the potential to delight and engage users just like we’ve seen with our PC and Mobile Filmstrip executions.
We have already operationalized and begun offering PC and Mobile Filmstrip units to advertisers and have seen adoption spanning multiple verticals. Now with the Video Filmstrip, advertisers can extend what they were doing with our IAB Filmstrip for the PC and Mobile environments to video. The Video Filmstrip gives marketers the ability to extend their Filmstrip campaigns across devices, simplifying multi-screen campaigns and making it easier for brand advertisers to launch and scale their digital campaigns.
The IAB Rising Stars competition evaluated more than six dozen entries for VAST and VPAID compliant video ad units. These concepts will soon become the IAB’s first-ever Digital Video ad format standards.
Before I end, I want to extend a thank you to our VPAID provider Mixpo who helped us co-create the Video Filmstrip. Together we are excited to see how the Video Filmstrip helps brands better engage with their audiences.
