If you’ve been reading the headlines or sifting through your social networks lately, there’s no doubt you’ve seen or heard a few words revolving around Windows Phone:
“A design gem.”
…and this little hashtag: #smokedbywindowsphone
Smoked by what?
We sat down with Ben Rudolph, Director of Windows Phone Evangelism, to elaborate on the mobile mania recently swarming the product and to get a glimpse of what’s next on the horizon.
“Basically, I get to play with toys all day,” Ben starts out. Although “toy” can be an appropriate description for a mobile device, what Windows Phone team has done to connect our working lives with entertainment is something really remarkable. To demonstrate the the speed in which the user can find a restaurant, post a photo of their child to Facebook or collaborate in Office via SkyDrive in real-time, Ben has introduced the “Smoked by Windows Phone” Challenge. During CES, Ben faced-off against 34 volunteered competitor devices to demonstrate the speed of Windows Phone. Armed with $100 per bet, Windows Phone proved faster than 30 of the mobile opponents - an 88% success rate!
“This really is about play and work,” Ben said. With speeds like that, we can’t agree more. Imagine not having to wait for your Twitter Feed to load to connect with where to meet friends, being able to step away from your desk and work in Office without a glitch and connect anywhere, with anyone at anytime.
Windows Phone is a device for all contexts! Something we know advertisers like too.
It’s hard to imagine what could possibly be next when there are so many cool things happening right now with Windows Phone, but the future looks even brighter. Great hardware, integration with SkyDrive are just a few things to expect and we can’t wait to show you more.....when Ben's ready to tell us of course!
